CHRONICON |
||
Fredegarius is the name used since the sixteenth century to designate the supposed author of an anonymous historical compilation (Chronicon Fredegarii) of the seventh century, in which is related a continuation of the Ecclesiastical History of the Franks, by Gregory of Tours. Modern research has shown that the work is really made up of three texts, each of which belongs to a different author. The Chronicon was edited by Krusch in Scriptores Rerum Merovingicarum, II (Hanover, 1888). |

HOMERIC
WHISPERS |

| The author places Homeric Troy along Croatia's Dalmatian Coast where, he claims, geographical realities respond to geographical statements found in the Iliad and Odyssey, attested by several place names as well as a wealth of hitherto unexplored archaeological sites. Furthermore, he argues, internal linguistic evidence suggests these works were originally created in a pre-Greek Slavic dialect, but later translated by a fully bicultural society into "Homeric" Greek. The premise has been widely diffused throughout former Yugoslavia since its initial statement was formulated in Homer's Blind Audience in 1985. |
